What is Pulmonary Hypertension?

In October of 2013 my daughter Emily was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension, (PH). Her was idiopathic ...meaning there was really no reason or cause for it to develop but we think she has had it for at least 4-5 years. She was having trouble walking up stairs or inclines and would get light headed. After a series of test she was diagnosed with a condition we had never heard of- the pressure in her lungs was three times normal and the right side of her heart was enlarged. Only 6 in in a million people will develop this condition. There is no cure.

But there are treatments that can help delay the treat the symptoms. There is a lifesaving program at Mass General Hospital and we are lucky to have it in in our backyard. Emily is own several medications and we hope a cure is on the horizon- but it needs funding for research and helping treat patients.
